Hi everyone! My name is Wendy L. Kirby a/k/a La Phemme Phoodie. I’m thrilled to be a guest on Allie’s blog. I saved a special treat for you today. It’s something I’ve made several times in the past few weeks but did not post on my site yet. It’s something you may have heard about but have not yet tried. It’s one ingredient ice cream. The ingredient? Bananas. Really, I’m serious. All you need are a couple of frozen bananas and you will have an incredible substitute for “regular” ice cream.
I have seen several bloggers put their spin on it but the basic recipe is as follows:
1.) 3 ripe or overripe bananas
2.) 2 teaspoons vanilla (optional)
3.) Assorted toppings such as chocolate syrup, chocolate chips, etc. (optional)

yum, banana ice cream is one of my favorites!
I’ve made this in the past and it is SO GOOD! So healthy, so easy and suitable for every eater, from vegans to meat-atarians. Love it! Great post, Wendy.
I’m an awful cook, but this looks super easy. I might have to try this.
I wonder if/how this might work with sweet potatos and yams? Thanks for posting!
What a great idea. This will be great if I’m too lazy or it’s too hot to bake bananna bread. Not only is it great for vegans like Christy mentioned, but also for diabetics too (I think anyways…)!
I’ve had one ingredient banana ice-cream before it does indeed taste like perfectly creamy banana ice-cream! You’ve totally inspired me to try this as I’ve never made it myself. I think the bananas sound like a perfect canvas for some additional spices. Something citrus-y during the summer like the keffir lime leaves or the warming spices in the autumn. But first things first…I’m going to try it with chocolate sauce just like you recommend!
This is genius! I think I will add a bit of peanut butter to it. I have 2 over ripe bananas that I froze incase I wanted banana bread… but I think my kids will enjoy this MUCH more!
