I have never been extremely overweight, but when I was in college I started to gain weight. I have always been conscious of what I eat, but I also loved things that were unhealthy so this tended to make me pudgy.
I weighed my absolute highest when I came back from Milan, Italy during the Spring of 2008, when I weighed 160 pounds. I actually didn’t weigh as much when I came back as I did a few months after. I was so used to walking miles each day in Italy and being able to eat anything to not exercising enough and…still eating what I wanted!
During my senior year of college I began exercising regularly and still eating whatever I wanted without watching very much. I was able to lose about 10 pounds just exercising! But I still weighed 150 pounds and was 5’4″.
When I weighed 150. Not comfortable with myself!
But during the summer of 2009 I went to Las Vegas with Jay and when I came back I decided that I wanted to finally feel good about myself. I joined Weight Watchers Online and it took me about 4 months, but I lost 20 pounds! I now weigh 130 pounds and have been able to maintain that weight. I wouldn’t mind weighing less but I strive to maintain my weight. I am now more confident and healthier!
I believe in a lifestyle that is based upon balance. You will notice that my recipes range from healthy recipes to indulgent recipes. I also like to dine out and have been able to find a balance when doing so. Life is too short to not try new foods and recipes, just take smaller tastes :) !
Me at 130.
My boyfriend, Jay, also lost a SIGNIFICANT amount of weight!! He began his journey weighing over 260 pounds. He has always been a picky eater and never really thought much about his health. After altering some important things like taking in more nutrients, eating smaller portions, and eating a wider variety of food has helped him to lose 90 pounds!!! He also exercises A LOT! He went from being an occasional hockey player to running up to 13 miles at a time!
Jay before he lost weight!
I am so proud of him for everything he has worked hard at and how much healthier he is now! I think he looks great!
Us before in May 2009.
Us after in January 2010.
Update: In August 2010 Jay officially lost 100 pounds! Congrats Jay I’m so proud of you :)
If you have any questions about weight loss, Weight Watchers, exercising or anything related, feel free to ask! If you want to ask Jay a question I will make sure that he answers :)

Wow! You guys look great! Way to go - it must feel great to know you have accomplished so much!
Hi just found your blog from skinnytaste.com!
I too have lost weight with weight watchers 40lbs since May. Now that you are maintaining do you still count points? I have done WW in the past and stopped counting and gained it back. Any tips?
Hi Kate! Thanks so much for stopping by. Isn’t Gina the best?! Congrats on your weightloss :) Such an accomplishment! I want to see how awesome you look! I don’t count points any longer. I was for awhile but I became pretty aware of how many points things were.
Here are some tips that I find help:
-Continue to weigh yourself. I try not to do it as often as I once did just so I don’t go crazy but it helps me get an idea of where I stand. My jeans are also a good indicator of this ;)
-Stick to WW friendly foods. By now you should know what is and isn’t a good choice. This also means sticking to filling foods!
-Continue to exercise. This one is huge for me and I don’t think I’d be able to keep it off without exercising. Plus it just makes me feel good in general.
-Realize that you WILL have bad days, and move on. But just because one day is a flop, don’t give up! And also, make sure you give yourself room for indulging. You’ll go crazy if you don’t!
-Lastly, you can always refer back to WW points. My rule of thumb is that if when I’m weighing myself and I see the numbers climbing or my pants getting snug, I start being more strict with my points because sometimes we all just need a little more guidance. It’s like a teacher disciplining a student when their grades start to slip!
I hope this helped! Let me know if you have any other questions :)
congrats you both look great must of been hard trying to eat healthy my boyfriend and I been trying to do the same were there any good recipes or advice you can give?
Have you ever considered about adding a little bit more than just your articles?
I mean, what you say is important and everything. However just imagine
if you added some great pictures or video clips
to give your posts more, “pop”! Your content is excellent but with pics and video clips, this
website could definitely be one of the very best in its field.
